The last time I was in a Gym was before you were born

For most of my career I was part of typical American corporate cultures in which jogging was the status symbol of ambitious and disciplined executives. A growing body of evidence made me aware that strength training is in fact the activity to beat when it comes to long term health and overall performance. So I tried to squeeze a routine consisting of body weight exercises into my weekly schedule. But, over time, missing quantification and doubts about effectiveness had their toll on consistency. A classical Personal Training would have solved only parts of the problem at best but was out of the question because of the time commitment necessary. And I had no time.

I feel more balanced. Its priceless to me, that I can get a lot done during the week without the nagging feeling that I am falling short on exercise and jeopardize my future health. I wouldn't want to miss early morning power walking with my wife

AURUM is a weekly ritual for me and my wife. Its our solution. And not only that, now we can spend our free time for what we really enjoy, like early morning power walks and the good conversations that come with it. Also, I wouldn't discount the mental strengthening that comes with High Intensity Training. Going all out and competing with oneself for 20 Minutes is much greater than the sum of its parts. It has given me a level of confidence in my physical abilities that I had been missing. My dream would be to do cageless diving with Great Whites one day. My body strength will surely not be the limiting factor in this endeavour, thanks to AURUM.

The higher the inroading, the greater the adaptation

The mechanism of "inroading" is weakening of muscles with a profound stimulus from outside, causing an intense reaction from the inside - a highly intense muscular contraction. The intense stress leads to a variety of positive adaptations in your body, incl. increased muscle tissue and strength.

Time under load

To gain strength you want to maximize 2 things: “time under tension” and force. So, the time your muscle is under tension when resisting (or "lifting" if in a regular gym) without losing tension throughout the movement, and the force your muscle applies throughout the entire movement.

Frequency, or the importance of recovery

When you give your body sufficient time to rest between training sessions, your body is able to heal the inflammatory process which is created by the training and start a process called "anabolic," a process of building a new muscle tissue.
